Summer is the perfect time to put theory into practice and gain field experience through one of our summer internship programs. As part of a summer internship experience, you’ll uncover your strengths, define your interests, and lay a strong foundation for your career aspirations after graduation.
Summer Fellowship Internship (SFI)
Designed for students who have a passion for nonprofit or public sector work, in the SFI program, you’ll help make the Tacoma community a better place to live and work. Participants in this competitive program receive a $3,400 fellowship and intern 28 hours a week for 10 weeks with a local organization where you’ll get first-hand experience with a nonprofit or government organization. Past internships have included the Emergency Food Network, Hilltop Artists, and the Northwest Immigration Rights Project.
Reflective Immersive Sophomore Experience (RISE)
In this blend of in-class learning and experiential learning, you’ll build career knowledge and be empowered to move confidently toward your future career goals. As a RISE student, you’ll spend a semester learning how to articulate your narrative, search for a career experience, write a compelling cover letter and resume, practice interview skills, and understand the principles of professionalism. Then, you’ll spend the summer interning locally, nationally, or internationally. When you return to campus, you’ll reflect on your experience.
