Communication Channels

Arches cover, Spring 2026

Arches is the alumni magazine of Puget Sound, serving more than 40,000 Loggers worldwide.

Guided by the intellectually curious and humanist values of the liberal arts, Arches strives to capture and convey the ethos of the college through stories that are relevant to the times we are living in and that amplify the voices and experiences of Loggers in an effort to foster understanding and fuel connection within our community and beyond.

In recent years, social media has become a primary means of communicating information of all kinds—especially to students. We operate and manage institutional accounts representing the university on numerous platforms and offer guidance, best practices, and assistance to campus groups on launching their own successful social accounts. We often partner with campus accounts on social media campaigns, and to amplify or promote special events and messaging.

The university website is the first point of contact for most people encountering Puget Sound. We welcome more than 4.5 million visitors to the website each year, manage more than 10,000 pages of content, and train and assist about 100 content editors in Drupal, our content management system. We rely on our campus partners to keep their content up to date and relevant for all visitors.

Screen capture of the university events calendar

The university events calendar is found online at pugetsound.edu/events, and we welcome, ENCOURAGE, even, campus members to submit their campus events to the calendar! The events calendar also includes athletic events from Logger Athletics, and events are selected from the calendar for inclusion in other channels such as The Hatchet, Arches, or the campus screens. There is a submission button on the events calendar landing page (and one below for easy access)!

You can also have a hidden keyword set up for your department or program so you can have your events streamed directly onto your web page. Reach out to the Web Manager or submit a project request to inquire about setting this up for your program.

Campus Screens

In 2025-26, Marketing & Communications partnered with Technology Services to help develop a plan for utilizing the various screens around campus for a unified presentation of information. We made connections with individual departments and programs who had managed a variety of separate programs to try to host their local content, and now we have approximately 15 screens in public areas on campus that we can disseminate information to easily, while still enabling local connections to include their own site-specific content.

If you have campus activities that you would like to have included on the campus screens, you can create a branded slide in your university Canva account and submit it through our MarCom request form for inclusion on the screens. Just indicate if there are particular locations or dates that you need to have covered.
