Object of Our Affections, Spring 2025 Arches: photos from a 2007 wine tasting event at the President's Residence

¡SALUD! SANTÉ! SLÁINTE! TO THE SENIORS During their time at Puget Sound, President Ronald R. Thomas and his wife, Mary Thomas, hosted an annual spring wine tasting event for senior students at the President’s House. This event provided an opportunity for students to enjoy an evening of both education and entertainment, while spending time with the Thomases, who were well-known wine enthusiasts.

These photos are from the third annual wine tasting, which took place in 2007. At the event, students learned about winemaking as both an art and a science. They were taught how to properly critique wine by observing, swirling, smelling, and tasting. The wine selection included three Sauvignon Blancs and three Cabernet Sauvignons, carefully chosen by Mary Thomas.

Do you recognize a grad in these photos or remember attending an event at the President’s House? Email your story to arches@pugetsound.edu, and we’ll share your memory in the Letters section of a future issue.
