Puget Sound's Department of Art and Art History offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in studio art and art history, and art classes are available for majors and nonmajors alike. Studio art majors may concentrate their studies in ceramics, painting, printmaking, or sculpture. Classes average about 15 students per course and are taught by faculty members who are also exhibiting artists, showing their works in national and international exhibitions and museum shows, as well as in regional and local exhibits. All students who have taken an art class in the past year have the opportunity to display their work in juried shows, typically held during the fall semester, and each May, graduating art students show their work in the annual Senior Art Show.
- Kittredge Gallery, in collaboration with Tacoma Art Museum, hosts exhibitions by regional and national artists September through May, and serves as a teaching tool for the campus and community. Gallery exhibitions and artist talks are free and open to the public. Artist talks take viewers through an exhibit with the artist, who explains his or her process and answers questions.
- Collins Memorial Library often displays book-themed art exhibits and collections for the campus and community. Artist talks and special events are often available with these exhibits.
- Faculty members in the art department are celebrated local and regional artists who actively create art and exhibit it in shows across the country.
