Service Announcements

Technology Services utilizes an Incident Communication Plan to facilitate timely communication regarding technology maintenance and service interruptions to Puget Sound Critical Services. As part of this plan, Technology Services posts announcements on this page and encourages Puget Sound community members to sign up for our TS Communications listserv.

To opt in to the TScommunications listserv:

  • {Phone} Planned Migration – Wednesday, July 15 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.

    PHONE: Emergency Responder Migration

    Wednesday, July 15, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

    REASON FOR IMPACT: Technology Services will be migrating part of our phone system to new servers to prepare for a system upgrade later this year.

     

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    ·         These systems are redundant so no outages are expected.

  • [Tscommunications] {NETWORK}: Phone/VOIP Upgrade – July 15th, 2020 – 7PM to Midnight [CANCELLED]

    This maintenance upgrade will be rescheduled to a later time.  Thank you.

    NETWORK: Phone/VOIP System Upgrade

    July 15th, 2020 – 7PM to Midnight

    SYSTEMS IMPACTED:  All VOIP Services on campus will be affected including, desk phones, walls phones, and all devices that use VOIP analog converters such as Fax machines, elevator phones, security systems and emergency towers.

    REASON FOR IMPACT: Technology Services will be performing an upgrade to the phone system increase stability, reliability and interoperability with our phone system. This maintenance will cause short intermittent downtime to phone/VOIP services (typically less than 5 minutes) around campus between 7PM and Midnight.


    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    ·        In the event that we have a longer than anticipated outage, we will send out an update

    ·        All phone/VOIP services will experience intermittent down time as we migrate phones and VOIP devices to new servers.  While the migration of these phones will not take long (usually less than 5 minutes as the phones and devices reboot) we will need to do testing and verification during the full maintenance window.

  • [Tscommunications] {Network}: Library Network Maintenance – July 8th – 1:30 PM [COMPLETE]

    Update:  All network services should be back to normal in the library.  If anyone has further issues please let us know.

     

    NETWORK: Library Network Maintenance

    July 8th, 2020 – 1:30pm [COMPLETE]

     

    SYSTEMS IMPACTED:  All network services will be impacted in Library including VOIP and Wireless.

     

    REASON FOR IMPACT: We are still experiencing issues with devices going offline that require power over Ethernet (POE) such as Access points for wireless.  This maintenance will cause intermittent downtime to all network services and Internet access.  Unfortunately we need to do this work during the day as there are some unresponsive switches and we are attempting to get those areas back online.

     

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    In the event that we have a longer than anticipated outage, we will send out an update.

    All network services including phones/VOIP, remoting into computers or accessing resources (ie cameras) in Library via the VPN or from other areas on campus will not function
