Service Announcements

Technology Services utilizes an Incident Communication Plan to facilitate timely communication regarding technology maintenance and service interruptions to Puget Sound Critical Services. As part of this plan, Technology Services posts announcements on this page and encourages Puget Sound community members to sign up for our TS Communications listserv.

To opt in to the TScommunications listserv:

1. Navigate to https://mailweb.pugetsound.edu/mailman/listinfo 
2. Locate TScommunications from the list and click on the name.
3. Fill out the information in the “Subscribing to TScommunications” section.

    NETWORK: Planned Maintenance

    Wednesday, April 8th, 2020 at 5AM

    REASON FOR IMPACT:

    Our internet provider K20 needs to upgrade the firmware in their equipment (router) to address a bug and will also need to perform a reboot. 

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    ·        Campus internet connectivity will be impacted intermittingly (~five minutes) while the router is rebooting. 

    ·        External access to Puget Sound web sites, email and VPN will be intermittent during this brief maintenance.

  • {Wireless Network} Planned Maintenance: Wed Feb 19, 5 a.m.-5:30 a.m.

    Network: Planned Wireless Outage

    Wednesday, February 19 at 5 a.m.-5:30 a.m.

    REASON FOR IMPACT: Technology Services is updating the wireless network. Connecting to the campus and guest network via a wireless device will not work during the maintenance window. Hard wired devices such as desk phones, desktops, card access to the buildings, and elevator emergency phones will not be impacted.

    PeopleSoft Campus Solutions

    Various Puget Sound systems and applications

    REASON FOR IMPACT: To ensure a secure, reliable computing environment TS will be completing routine patch maintenance on our Puget Sound production servers.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    ·       The university network, internet access and wireless will NOT be affected.

    ·       Technology Services schedules regular maintenance windows, generally on the second Sunday of every month, to ensure a secure, reliable computing environment. Thank you for your patience as we conduct this important work.

    REASON FOR IMPACT: To ensure a reliable computing environment Technology Services will be replacing half of our primary battery backup systems that support our core server and network infrastructure.

     

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    ·         No downtime is expected.

    Wednesday, January 15 from 12:10 p.m. to 12:20 p.m.

    REASON FOR IMPACT: Technology Services needs to reboot the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions system to resolve an error with provisioning in our Account Management system. If you are logged into PeopleSoft Campus Solutions you may be logged out of the system or receive an error during the maintenance window.
