To successfully connect to the main campus wireless network, PS-CampusAccess, antivirus software is required to be installed and running on your computing device(s).

Antivirus Protection For Personal Computers

Technology Services recommends the following free antivirus software for use for personal computers. However, you can install your choice of antivirus protection as long as the software is compatible with our network Connect Key also known as SafeConnect. See the full list of compatible antivirus options.

Windows Defender - Windows 10 has built-in antivirus protection

For Macintosh Operating Systems

Avast Free Mac Security/Antivirus software
Avira Free Antivirus for Mac

Antivirus Protection For University Owned Computers

Technology Services provides managed enterprise antivirus software to protect university owned computers. Antivirus software is installed and running on all university managed computers by default. Uninstalling Antivirus Software

If you are installing a new antivirus product, you will need to uninstall your old program first. For many products, you can simply uninstall the old program, but McAfee, Norton, and Sophos products may require special steps for proper removal.

McAfee

McAfee can be removed with the McAfee Removal Tool. You may then proceed to install your new antivirus software.

Norton

Norton can be removed with the Norton Removal Tool. You may then proceed to install your new antivirus software.

Sophos

Sophos free version antivirus software installed on unmanaged personal student computers is no longer recommended. Students with Mac O/S are advised to uninstall Sophos and install recommended supported antivirus programs for Mac O/S listed above.
