Gordon Alcorn '30 was a University of Puget Sound biology professor and campus arborist. A plaque on a large rock off the arboretum and southwest corner of Collins Library reads:
Gordon Dee Alcorn Arboretum
The grounds of the university are designated as an arboretum in recognition of his tireless dedication to his students, academic excellence, and the preservation of nature and the environment.
