CWL Peer Tutor applications are now open for Academic Year 2026 - 2027, and due February 13.
We actively seek a diverse team of students to work in the CWL because we believe that it broadens perspectives on how to define good writing and effective learning, creates a community where more students feel represented, comfortable, and safe, and reflects the kind of campus we aspire to be.
Working at the CWL provides a powerful opportunity to connect with students from across campus, and make a meaningful difference in their time here at Puget Sound. Tutors not only provide useful feedback and guidance; they also help students feel a part of the academic and student community here on campus. AND tutoring is fantastic professional training: you think on your feet, learn to communicate with a variety of types of learners and people, and deepen your knowledge of your subject matter at the same time.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Work one-to-one with students who come to the CWL.
- Act as a liaison to faculty and First Year Core or subject area courses.
- Collaborate with other peer tutors and CWL staff to develop and offer CWL programming.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development, including CWL orientation at the start of the fall semester, ongoing readings and activities, and biweekly CWL staff meetings.
- Other duties as needed.
Interested in joining the CWL in Fall, 2026?
Applications are NOW OPEN on Handshake, and are due Friday, February 13 at 2:59 p.m.
A student may apply to one or both positions, but must submit their application materials through Handshake to both positions, if they are interested in both. Please note that the application requirements for each position are slightly different, so read the postings carefully.
At this point in time, we do not anticipate hiring for Economics, French, German, and Psychology.
That said, if you are interested in joining the CWL as a subject tutor and are flexible about which subject you might tutor for based on your coursework, we encourage you to apply and state that in your cover letter.
