Logger Athletics had a banner year in the 2025–26 season, with several teams and individuals reaching the conference and national championships, including women’s volleyball, women’s soccer, men’s cross country, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s track and field, and women’s crew.

Following the Washington State Legislature’s recent decision to uphold significant cuts to state student aid programs, the University of Puget Sound has announced it will reallocate institutional funding to ensure affected students can continue their education without additional financial burden.

The move reaffirms Puget Sound’s long-standing dedication to making a world-class liberal arts education affordable and accessible to all scholars, regardless of their financial background.

The University of Puget Sound has been recognized as a College of Distinction for the 2025–2026 academic year. It has received national recognition in four categories: College of Distinction, Business College of Distinction, College of Distinction for Career Development, and, for the first time, a College of Distinction for Transfer Support.

The University of Puget Sound recently held the Puget Sound Symposium on AI & Privacy, bringing together an interdisciplinary group of scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to address the ethical and legal challenges posed by the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence. The event successfully fostered critical dialogue across different sectors about how AI impacts personal data, influences governance models, and redefines the boundaries of mental privacy.

University of Puget Sound Assistant Professor of Biology Elisa Frankel has launched a new research program focused on synapses, the vital connections between brain cells, following a successful grant proposal to the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. The project investigates the molecular mechanisms that help synapses remain stable as the nervous system ages.  

The University of Puget Sound will launch a new interdisciplinary emphasis in Artificial Intelligence and Human Values in Fall 2026, offering students a structured pathway to understand AI not just as a technology but as a force reshaping democracy, creativity, health care, law, and human relationships.

When Jake Elorduy ’26 arrived at the University of Puget Sound, football was his entry point. A lifelong athlete, he expected a run-of-the-mill college experience, centered on his experience on the field. What he found went far beyond the game.

“It’s hard to get a full grasp of what campus looks like if you’re not physically there,” Elorduy said. He grew up in Sacramento, California, and hadn’t traveled to the Pacific Northwest before touring Puget Sound. “Once I saw the community, that really drew my attention.”

Tacoma, Wash. — The University of Puget Sound has named John Johnson, Ph.D., as interim vice president for institutional equity and diversity, effective July 6. In light of President Isiaah Crawford’s upcoming retirement on July 1, 2027, Johnson will serve in this role during academic years 2026-27 and 2027-28.

The members of the University of Puget Sound’s Adelphian Concert Choir are used to traveling for performances. For decades, the choir has climbed aboard a bus to tour all over the Pacific Northwest. This year was different. Instead of a tour bus, members of the choir boarded a plane bound for New York City’s world-famous Carnegie Hall.
