THE URBAN/RURAL DIVIDE: AN OPEN DISCUSSION OF THE CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES OF THE “TWO CULTURES”
In a thought-provoking discussion on the Urban/Rural Divide in the U.S., participants will explore the complex dynamics shaping disparate communities. From contrasting economic opportunities to divergent political perspectives, we will discuss the impact on social cohesion and policy priorities. We will grapple with the challenge of fostering understanding and collaboration between urban and rural populations, recognizing the need for nuanced solutions that bridge the divide.
Whether you ski, snowshoe, snowboard, or snowmobile, recognition of avalanche danger is an essential and potentially lifesaving skill. This introductory class provides a basic approach to managing risk. An instructor from the Northwest Avalanche Center will explain how to access avalanche and mountain weather forecasts and recognize basic signs of avalanche danger.

On February 29, 2024 the University of Puget Sound will be participating in the first Fresh Check Day on our campus! Fresh Check Day is an uplifting mental health promotion and suicide prevention event that includes interactive expo booths, peer-to-peer messaging, support of multiple campus departments and groups, free food, entertainment, and exciting prizes and giveaways.
