Join the 138th Anniversary of the Tacoma Chinese Expulsion for the WALK FOR RECONCILIATION.

Fall Break Backpacking - Hoh Rainforest

Rainforest in Washington! World Heritage Site! Trees over 1000 years old! Join PSO to explore the Hoh Rainforest in Olympic National Park over Fall Break. The trail is in great condition with not much elevation change, but we will be hiking each day! Any level of backpacking experience is recommended but not required. If you're excited to frolic amongst ancient trees and wildlife (hopefully), run to the Expy to sign up while there's still space!

Fall Break Backpacking - Alpine Lakes Wilderness

Welcome to a thrilling 3-day, 2-night backpacking trip in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness! This unforgettable trip is a 14-mile roundtrip with an elevation gain of roughly 3,000ft but fear not! Your trusty leaders will make sure you have the time of your life (while staying safe, of course). This loop is generally rated as moderately difficult with absolutely stunning views of lakes, mountains, and superb fall colors. We recommend some backpacking experience but it is certainly not required :) You sure don't want to miss out on this!

Earth Month Extravaganza

Join Sustainability Services on Sunday, April 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. to learn about sustainable initiatives on campus! Many different organizations will have representatives sharing what they offer on campus, including when and how you can find them to get involved. Some organizations that will be there include the Expy, Garden Club, the Makerspace, the Bike Shop, and more! There will be snacks, a stasher bag giveaway, and music from KUPS.

Loggers Pitch-In (featuring DIRT)

Join Sustainability Services on Sunday, April 16th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for restoration work, including weeding invasive species and planting native plants, in the Thompson Forest. Participants will get the chance to learn more about invasive and native plant species on campus from Carrie Woods, Professor of Biology, and DIRT the band (KUPS) will be performing a live concert!! Lunch and snacks will be provided!

Avalanche Awareness Class

Excited about getting outside this winter? Want to better prepare yourself to do it safely? Join PSO for this free Avalanche Awareness class presented by the Northwest Avalanche Center! This class covers how to access avalanche and mountain weather forecasts, recognize basic signs of avalanche danger, and next steps for continuing education.
