Congratulations on your decision to join us at Puget Sound!

We have provided the information below to help prepare for your arrival on campus. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Applying for a Student Visa

All international students coming to Puget Sound must have a valid student visa before entering the U.S. In order to apply for a visa, you will need either a Form I-20 or Form DS-2019. As soon as your enrollment is confirmed with your deposit, our office will begin to work on your Form I-20 (F-1 students) or Form DS-2019 (J-1 scholars). Find more information about the student visa application process.

Medical Health Insurance

Medical health insurance is required for all international students. Puget Sound registers students in an insurance plan administered by EIIA. Students are billed through their Puget Sound financial account.

On-Campus Housing

Housing information can be found on your MyPugetSound portal. Please note that the University of Puget Sound is primarily a residential campus and requires all students to live on-campus for their first two years with the university.

Arriving on Campus & Orientation

International Student Orientation is mandatory for all new F-1 and J-1 students and is optional for graduate students and third culture individuals. Find more information on this academic year's arrival & orientation schedule.

Campus Ambassador Program

Our Campus Ambassador Program is a collaborative effort between Puget Sound students who have returned from study abroad and the Office of International Programs. This program aims to foster our international community on campus. Campus ambassadors ease international students’ transition to campus by inviting students to monthly events, providing support and resources, and encouraging students as they adapt to life in the U.S..
