Noon Convocation Student Recitals

Enjoy a variety of short performances by Puget Sound music students. This week's event will feature cello performances by Isabella Brady ’24 and Connor Adams '25, with Isabella Jie, piano; a vocal performance by Larissa Gaulke '24, with Kim Davenport, piano; and piano performances by Tarra Winslow '24 and Jack Kuntz '26.

Free and open to the public.

Jacobsen Series: Dreaming Away the Winter Chill

Enjoy an afternoon recital of lyrical music from the 20th and 21st centuries by composers Hailstork, Wade, Bunch, and Clarke; featuring Joyce Ramée, viola and Karen Ganz, piano.

All are invited to a reception following the program hosted by the SAI international music organization.

Tickets: $20, general; $15 sr. citizen, military, Puget Sound faculty, staff, and Community Music participants.

Michelle Cann Lecture and Recital Performance

The School of Music is honored to welcome pianist Michelle Cann, highly acclaimed performer and pedagogue, presenting an afternoon lecture and Q & A session, "The Musical Legacies of Phenomenal Women of Color," followed by an evening recital performance. 

Join us for the lecture at 1:30 p.m. and recital performance at 7:30 p.m., free and open to the public.

This event is part of the 2023-24 Keyboard Series and is sponsored by the Catharine Gould Chism Fund for the Humanities.

Campus Film: Priscilla

Priscilla is a 2023 American biographical drama film written, directed, and produced by Sofia Coppola, based on the 1985 memoir Elvis and Me by Priscilla Presley (who serves as an executive producer) and Sandra Harmon. It follows the life of Priscilla (played by Cailee Spaeny) and her complicated romantic relationship with Elvis Presley (Jacob Elordi). Presented by ASUPS Campus Films.

Ela Escobar Senior Viola Recital

Ela Escobar '24 will perform their senior viola recital with Jeff Orr, piano; and Eli Connolly '25, violin. Music performed will include works by Bach, Mozart, and Clarke. Escobar is a string performance major and a student of Joyce Ramee and Maria Sampen.

Mikhail Shmidt Violin Master Class

The School of Music is pleased to welcome Seattle Symphony violinist Mikhail Shmidt, who will share his experience and expertise in a violin master class. This event is free and open to the public.

Sky and Sea - Concert and Environmental Activities

University of Puget Sound is pleased to collaborate with Northwest Sinfonietta as they present, "Sky and Sea" conducted by Mei-Ann Chen. This innovative concert features Marjan Mozetich's 'Postcards from the Sky'; Viet Cuong's 'Re(new)al' for percussion quartet; and Claude Debussy's 'La Mer' -- music conveying themes of taking care of the Earth. 

Jacobsen Series: Striking Music

Join us for an evening of original music and lighting design featuring Striking Music, a Seattle-based percussion ensemble with Storm Benjamin, Rebekah Ko, James Doyle, and Benjamin Marx; in collaboration with Puget Sound’s Department of Art and Art History, designer Mare Hirsch, assistant professor of art and digital media.

Striking Music will combine a fresh new multimedia work by Marx, Feynman Diagrams, with Hirsch's stunning design incorporating interactive technologies, sequenced visual elements, and live synthesized lighting.

Into The Woods

The School of Music Opera Theater is pleased to present "Into the Woods," the 1987 musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine.
