Counted out - A Film By VickI Abeles

In our current information economy, math is everywhere. The people we date, the news we see, the influence of our votes, the candidates who win elections, the education we have access to, the jobs we get — all of it is underwritten by an invisible layer of math that few of us understand or even notice.

But whether we know it or not, our numeric literacy — whether we can speak the language of math — is a critical determinant of social and economic power.

Film: "Cowboy Boots"

“Cowboy Boots” explores the intersection of accepting one’s sexual identity and trying to find the community in which it can reside. It is at once a dive into the longings and desires of a young, rural recently-out cowboy from Nebraska and the realities of being a newcomer in San Francisco, entering a gay bar for the first time, and looking at the interactions and relationships within underground queer culture. A world that he doesn’t know or understand. While the story is queer in nature, the themes of finding one’s place, and the discomfort that comes along with doing so, are universal.

Dinner with Strangers (Spring 2025)

At Dinner with Strangers, students come together with the Logger Community for a meal, conversation, and networking connections.

Gain experience networking in a Logger-friendly environment, and interact with Puget Sound alumni over a free catered meal.

Following the meal and remarks from our guest speaker, the evening concludes with dessert plus a speed-networking activity to help you connect with all of the alumni and faculty in attendance — members of your Logger Network who want to meet you and support your career journey!
