You and your Passages group will gather and head out to start your immersive experience. Your Passages leaders will have specific directions for you regarding where to meet, what to bring, and what to expect from the day for your specific immersive experience. Pay attention to your group chat so you don’t miss out.
Events only open to the campus community
Orientation: Car Camping Immersive Experiences Depart from Campus
Grab your gear, check it twice, and meet your car camping group in front of Wheelock Student Center to load onto the bus and head out. Shared gear and food will be distributed before leaving.
Orientation: Individual Advising Meetings
Didn’t meet with your faculty advisor yesterday? Today is your day. (You will have signed up for an individual meeting time with your Advisor during the Group Advising Session you attended yesterday.)
Whereas the group meeting was about general ways to engage with faculty, getting your bearings for Puget Sound intellectual life, and starting to get to know those in your first-year Connections course, this meeting is all about you.
Orientation: Backpacking Immersive Experiences Depart from Campus
Grab your gear, check it twice, and meet your backpacking group in front of Wheelock Student Center before loading onto the bus and heading out. Shared gear and food will be distributed before leaving.
Orientation: RSA Information Sessions
Come learn about the Resident Student Association, the programs and activities that RSA hosts, Hall Homecoming competitions, and how to run for a Hall Council position within your residence hall. RSA is a great way to step into leadership as a first-year student and grow into other Logger leader roles.
Orientation: Individual Job Interviews
Students who are eligible for campus employment will be asked to email the hiring manager during the Campus Employment Session on Saturday afternoon. You will need to be on the lookout for a response with an interview time for the position. These can be scheduled throughout the day, but you will need to communicate with the hiring manager to ensure your interview time doesn’t conflict with your faculty advisor meeting or other individual engagements.
Orientation: Individual Music Placements
Students interested in the School of Music will have individually scheduled music auditions based on their instrument throughout this timeframe. Ensemble Placement Auditions are open to all regardless of major or minor.
Please make sure that your music placement audition does not conflict with your meeting with your faculty advisor.
Orientation: Individual Advising Meetings
You will have signed up for an individual meeting time with your Advisor during the Group Advising Session you attended yesterday. These meetings with your faculty Advisor are critical connection points before classes start. Whereas the group meeting was about general ways to engage with faculty, getting your bearings for Puget Sound intellectual life, and starting to get to know those in your first-year Connections course, this meeting is all about you.
Orientation: Academic Fair
As part of the advising program, faculty members from many departments and programs are available at the Academic Fair to informally discuss majors in their departments.
Orientation: Group Advising Sessions
Facilitated by your Faculty Advisor, this session will help you learn how to engage with your faculty while at Puget Sound. You’ll discuss academic expectations, meet the students in your advising class, and sign up for individual advising meetings.
