TACOMA, Wash. – The University of Puget Sound will host the 2025 Washington State Legislative Preview on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, from 5:30–8 p.m. in Wheelock Student Center’s Upper Marshall Hall. This event brings together policymakers, community leaders, and experts to discuss the key issues shaping the upcoming legislative session.

When five University of Puget Sound students and two faculty members traveled to China in July 2024, they encountered it all.
During their 10-day trip, Typhoon Gaemi hit Fuzhou, the port city in southeastern China where Puget Sound visitors were staying on the campus of Hwa Nan Women’s College. As the storm poured constant rain for several days, “everything closed,” recalled Noah Hornecker ’26.

The University of Puget Sound is proud to announce that it has received a $3 million commitment from Robert C. Pohlad, Rebecca Pohlad, and Chris R. Pohlad ’07 to establish the Pohlad Family Scholarship. This gift will create opportunities for students to pursue their education at Puget Sound and make lasting impacts in their communities.
University of Puget Sound has named a new university librarian and director of the Collins Memorial Library. Annie Downey will assume the role starting July 2024. Working closely with Puget Sound’s library staff, faculty, students, and leaders across campus, Downey will lead the development of a cohesive and inclusive vision for the library as a central place on campus, fostering vibrant intellectual exchange, building community, and promoting student success.
When finishing high school in 2014, I didn’t know what I wanted to do after I graduated, but I knew I didn’t want to stay in my hometown of Auburn, CA while I figured it out. Because of this, I joined the Army, and JBLM was my first duty station after finishing training. It meant a lot to be stationed here, as my grandfather was also assigned to Fort Lewis many years ago. I just wish he would have mentioned how much time I’d be spending trying to keep my gear dry.
