2026 Puget Sound Keyboard Weekend

The School of Music invites you to the 2026 Puget Sound Keyboard Weekend featuring a variety of activities for students, teachers, and the community. The schedule will include an informal tour and discussion of the piano department, demonstrations, a keyboard "petting zoo," a master class featuring a special guest artist, and a showcase concert featuring Ronaldo Rolim, piano, assistant professor of music.

 

Tribute to Weather Report

Tacoma prog-fusion band, Velocity, plays the groundbreaking music of Weather Report, formed in 1970 by jazz legends Joe Zawinul and Wayne Shorter, featuring virtuoso musicians including bassist Jaco Pastorius, drummer Peter Erskine, and others.

Puget Sound Piano Trio

Jacobsen Series 2026–27 performances feature Puget Sound music faculty, renowned guest artists, and inspiring themed concerts. Join us for the Puget Sound Piano Trio, the School of Music's artists-in-residence featuring Maria Sampen, violin; Alistair MacRae, cello; and Ronaldo Rolim, piano, performing works by Ethel Smyth and Johannes Brahms.

Join us for this faculty recital featuring Ronaldo Rolim, piano, performing the opening concert for Puget Sound's 2026 Keyboard Weekend. Keyboard Weekend runs from Nov. 13–15, with various activities for students and the community.

 

Global Resonance: Music from Around the World for Violin & Percussion

Jacobsen Series 2026–27 performances feature Puget Sound music faculty, renowned guest artists, and inspiring themed concerts. This year’s season kicks off with Maria Sampen, violin, joined by guests James Doyle, percussion, and Timothy Christie, viola. The program, Global Resonance: Music from Around the World for Violin and Percussion, will feature Tango, Celtic fiddling, Middle Eastern song, and 21st-century classical music.

 

Brass Day 2026

University of Puget Sound’s School of Music presents Brass Music Day! Join us for tuba, french horn, trombone, trumpet, and euphonium activities especially designed for students up to high-school age. Workshops, Masterclasses, individual lessons with University faculty, and Brass Band Clinics will be offered, culminating in a performance at the end of the day.

Terri Lyne Carrington Lecture/Master Class

Celebrating 40 years in music, NEA Jazz Master and four-time GRAMMY® award-winning drummer, producer and educator, Terri Lyne Carrington started her professional career in Massachusetts at 10 years old when she became the youngest person to receive a union card in Boston. She was featured as a “kid wonder” in many publications and on local and national TV shows.

Lecture: Marie Vallejo, author of "Dauntless"

Historian and author Marie Vallejo shares her research into the making of her ground-breaking book “Dauntless,” an account of the heretofore untold stories of pre-WW2 Filipino-American immigrants and how men working in the fields of California and Hawaii, the canneries of Alaska and Washington, serving in wealthy homes or attending college transitioned into the First and Second Filipino Infantry Regiments, the Congressional Gold Medal American fighting force which would infiltrate their homeland, occupied by the Imperial Japanese forces immediately following Pearl Harbor.
