Dear Members of the Campus Community,
Today, we observe Veterans Day, a moment for us to recognize the profound and selfless contributions of America's veterans. While this holiday was originally established as “Armistice Day” in 1919 to commemorate the end of World War I, it is now a crucial day to honor all who have served our nation.
At the University of Puget Sound, we are incredibly fortunate to have a strong community of veterans among us — our students, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees, and parents — who enrich our campus with a strong sense of civic duty, and bring a wealth of diverse experiences and perspectives.
To honor our veterans, the Center for Student Support is hosting a special luncheon today from noon to 1 p.m. in the Wheelock Student Center in the Rotunda, for students, faculty, and staff who are active military, veterans, or come from military families.
Having been raised by veterans myself, I understand firsthand how deeply their experiences shape one’s character and commitment to service. Every veteran has a unique story, and I hope you will join me in recognizing their bravery, sacrifice, and dedication.
Sincerely,
Isiaah Crawford, Ph.D. | President
