Dear Members of the Campus Community,

It is with mixed emotions that I share with you that Dr. Uchenna Baker, our outstanding vice president for student affairs and dean of students, has accepted a position with Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. In addition to new challenges and opportunities for leadership, the move brings Dr. Baker, her husband, and their children closer to extended family. Dr. Baker will be here with us in Tacoma through July 2.

Dr. Baker joined Puget Sound in 2018 following an extensive national search and has served the university community in significant ways, including co-chairing the vice president for institutional equity and diversity search committee, representing Puget Sound in our work with The Posse Foundation, and creating a strong community within Student Affairs to better support and respond to the needs of our students. She immeasurably strengthened our senior leadership team, and while we will miss her, we certainly wish her great success and happiness in her new role.

A search for a new vice president for student affairs will commence in the fall; meanwhile, I am pleased to share with you that Associate Dean of Students Sarah Comstock will assume the role of interim vice president effective July 3. Sarah is well-known to our community in the various positions she has held within Student Affairs, and we look forward to working closely with her over the coming year.

Please join me in wishing Dr. Baker and Sarah Comstock well as they pursue these new phases in their careers and support the young people we are privileged to serve.

Sincerely,

Isiaah
