To gain a Music endorsement, you must demonstrate your subject–matter knowledge in multiple ways. Music pathway A is designed as a unique 4+1 program that collaborates between the School of Music and the M.A.T. program.
Prior to your admission to the MAT program, you must complete necessary music coursework and state-required content exams. While enrolled in the MAT program, you will complete coursework and have school-based placements to prepare you to teach Music.
1. CONTENT PREPARATION
With a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Puget Sound, you have already completed the required undergraduate coursework to prepare you for entrance to the MAT program.
You must pass a basic skills test, the National Evaluation Series (NES) Test and at least one of the Washington Educator Skills Test–Endorsement (WEST–E) Tests.

3. SCHOOL-BASED PLACEMENTS & COURSEWORK
During the academic year, you will complete elementary and secondary teaching methods coursework and Music-related school-based experiences.
