How do I get help with Google Mail, Google Calendar, or Google Groups?
Gmail Transition
Overview
As of January 4, 2023, the university has transitioned to Google Mail (Gmail) and Google Calendar.
What to Expect
- You will keep your @pugetsound.edu email address
- All your mail, calendar, and contacts will be migrated
- You will need to recreate your email signature and rules
- If you check email on your mobile device, you will need to re-add the account
- Gmail labels can function as both folders and categories
- Send and receive emails using the new Gmail system
- Access Google Mail and Calendar using the web interface (recommended)
- Option to configure Gmail with the mail client of your choice
Key Enhancements
- Larger mailbox sizes
- Students will have a total storage quota of 10GB
- Faculty and Staff will have a total storage quota of 20GB
- Anybody currently exceeding the limit will be placed in a temporary exception group and will be contacted at a later date to be under the limit
- Improved spam filtering
- Improved account security
- Greater capabilities for integration with other Google Workspace applications
Training Sessions
Training sessions will be available from October 2022 through March 2023 for all campus community members. Online documentation will also be made available.
