TACOMA, Wash. – The University of Puget Sound is proud to announce incoming students Bryce Kirk of Sedona, Arizona, and Esther Mosaku of Abule-Egbe, Nigeria, as the two newest recipients of the prestigious Matelich Scholarship for the Class of 2028.

TACOMA, Wash. - The University of Puget Sound has been honored once again for its academic excellence, securing a spot among the Best National Liberal Arts Colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The university claimed the #95 spot in a highly competitive category among universities nationwide. Puget Sound was also recognized as a “Best Value School” moving up three spots to #81.

University of Puget Sound is pleased to announce a gift of $1.15 million from Trustee Sumner P. Erdman ’87. The gift will support Logger Athletics, the Puget Sound Fund, and experiential learning.

The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge (ALL IN) recognized the University of Puget Sound for its nonpartisan democratic engagement efforts that fostered high levels of student voter engagement in the 2022 midterm elections. Puget Sound was awarded the 2022 Washington Campus Voting Challenge Gold Seal for having the highest registration rate among four-year institutions, reflecting its commitment to ensuring that nonpartisan democratic engagement is a defining feature of campus life.

In the lowlands of Nepal, near the Indian border, humans and tigers have coexisted for centuries. After years of declining numbers, tiger populations are now growing, putting pressure on resources like food, water, and land that are shared with nearby farms and villages—and leading to increased conflict between humans and tigers. Nepal Tiger Trust is a nonprofit group that tracks tiger populations in Chitwan National Park and tries to educate local communities about their wild neighbors.

Three University of Puget Sound students claimed second place in the Air & Waste Management Association’s (AWMA)  Environmental Challenge international (ECi) competition, a highly competitive, engineering-dominated contest.

Beyond the cheering crowds and the final whistle, the journey of a college athlete is a demanding one. Recognizing this, the University of Puget Sound is taking a significant step in supporting the whole athlete by prioritizing the well-being and leadership development of its female student-athletes, thanks to a generous endowment of $1 million from 1991 graduate Christi Offutt and the Offutt Family Foundation.

Growing up, Angela Ronces-Cortes ’24 didn’t have a roadmap for getting into college. The daughter of immigrants, Ronces-Cortes knew she was interested in pursuing higher education, but wasn’t quite sure where to begin. All she knew for sure was that she wanted to go away to college and that some of her friends in her high school orchestra were thinking of applying to the School of Music at the University of Puget Sound.

The University of Puget Sound has received a $1 million gift from 1991 graduate Christi Offutt and the Offutt Family Foundation. This generous donation establishes the Offutt Family Foundation Endowed Fund for Women Athletes' success, with a focus on promoting wellness and leadership.
