Join us in the 2026 spring semester for Energy Resources (ENVS 315)! We are currently experiencing the fastest energy transition in human history, from coal, gas and other traditional energy sources to alternative energy. Energy Resources will explore the scientific, political, and environmental context for this transition at a local and national level.

Washington state is at the foreground of this rapid energy transition, as it contains one of the most diverse and comprehensive renewable energy landscapes in the nation. This course includes a spring break study-away where we will visit multiple energy sites across Washington, and learn about the pressures of this energy transition from people working in the field. In addition to the academic component of this course, the spring break component will provide opportunities for outdoor adventure, leadership development, trip planning/management, and more! This is a unique opportunity to see the classroom content in action, engage with energy stakeholders, and contextualize them in Washington’s current social, economic, and political climate.
