The Trail

The Trail is an independent, student-run organization funded by ASUPS. The Trail seeks to produce a credible newspaper that serves as a comprehensive source of information relevant to its readership. Written, designed, and edited by students, The Trail is committed to using student voices to cover issues our communities care about. The Trail acts as an archival record for the university, serves as a link between the University of Puget Sound and the greater Tacoma community, and provides an open forum for student opinion and discourse.

The Trail is the student run newspaper, as an essential part of the Puget Sound and Tacoma community. We believe this work matters now more than ever. Student journalism holds our own institution accountable, gives students a voice in campus affairs, and provides us with powerful communication and collaboration skills. We are not just a news outlet. We are a living, breathing team of students working alongside community members to bring you stories that are relevant, accurate and interesting.

The Trail is a very welcoming community! All levels and interests in journalism are accepted and encouraged. We strive to provide a space to learn new skills, hone old ones, and promote a community of collaboration. All are welcome!
