What has been your favorite academic experience at Puget Sound and why?

By far my favorite academic experience at Puget Sound has been studying abroad. I studied in Granada, Spain, fall semester of 2019 and it was truly a life changing experience for me! It was fully language immersive and really pushed me outside of my comfort zone both academically and personally. By the end, I felt conversationally fluent and had learned so much about the cultural diversity of the Iberian peninsula. It was by far one of the highlights of my Puget Sound experience thus far!

Where is your favorite place in Tacoma?

No question my favorite place in Tacoma is the Grand Cinema. On Fawcett avenue, it is located in one of my favorite parts of Downtown and shows the best independent and foreign films in the most charming (volunteer run!) theater. Going to the Grand for the first time was when I really felt like Tacoma had become my home. Be sure to check it out!

In only one sentence, please describe what you value the most about your Puget Sound experience.

I value the support and genuine connections that are fostered between the entire campus community; professors, students, and staff alike are all helping each other to make the best environment for everyone.

What is something that Puget Sound has taught you that you did not expect to learn?

Puget Sound has taught me that I am, and will be, constantly discovering new things about myself. I have been able to find new passions that I would have never known if it weren’t for the Puget Sound community encouraging me to try new things that may be outside my comfort zone. Try everything, you never know what you might like!

If you could be any fictional character from a movie or a book who would it be and why?

If I could be a fictional character I think I would be Elle Woods from Legally Blonde. As a hopeful future law student myself, I think Elle is a positive, resourceful, and a never-to-be-underestimated spunky student. She knows her strength and is confident in who she is.
