Community Music Department Student Recital

Join us for a free music concert featuring solo and duet music performed by young children, teens, and adult musicians from the university's Community Music Department. You will hear a variety of recital music repertoire played on violins, piano, and flutes. We invite you to experience a glimpse of the musical growth and celebrate the accomplishments of our student musicians as they journey from beginning to advanced skill levels. 

Admission to this event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.  

Euphonium Residency with Steven and Misa Mead

The School of Music is pleased to welcome guest artists Steven and Misa Mead for a two-day euphonium residency. British-born Steven Mead is widely regarded as one of the most successful professional euphonium soloists of the day, performing over 75 concerts per year with some of the leading orchestras, wind, brass, and military bands worldwide and has elevated the instrument's visibility. His innovative, pioneering work with the euphonium has gained him worldwide fame, and he is in high demand as a recitalist and clinician in the world of bass playing.

Fall 2022 Blues Vespers Concert: Joel Astley & Johnny Burgin

Our last on-campus Blues Vespers show for Fall '22 welcomes award-winning front-man Joel Astley on vocals and harmonica, joined by guitar wizard Johnny Burgin.  Blues Vespers is in its 25th year in Tacoma, and has offered 5-6 shows a year at Kilworth Chapel to bring our surrounding community into campus for "blues, poetry, and a little something to think about" since 2019.  All are welcome to this free performance!

Vocal Master Class with Darryl Taylor

The School of Music is excited to welcome guest artist Mr. Darryl Taylor to share his extensive expertise in a vocal master class featuring Kim Davenport, collaborative pianist and the following student performers (subject to change):

12 Songs for 12 Poets

“Twelve Songs for Twelve Poets,” an in-person workshop/performance with Dr. Anthony Geist and Spanish singer, musician and ethnomusicologist Paco Díez.

Jacobsen Series: Dawn Padula, mezzo-soprano and guests

Enjoy Dawn Padula, mezzo-soprano with Jessica Hall, collaborative pianist; and guests Peter Adams, piano; Brian Smith, drums; and Rob Hutchinson, bass; performing works by Barbara Strozzi, Henri Duparc, H. Leslie Adams, Florence B. Price, and more!  

All are invited to a reception following the program hosted by the SAI international music fraternity.
