Community, Students

Abi Longbottom ’26, a politics and government major at the University of Puget Sound, has been honored as a 2026 ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge (ALL IN) award recipient. She was recognized alongside 168 students across the country for their contributions to creating a more civically engaged culture within their campus communities.

Longbottom was honored for her work as Puget Sound’s civic engagement coordinator. During her time in the role, she led nonpartisan voter engagement efforts and volunteer events, focusing on breaking down barriers for students by navigating out-of-state absentee deadlines and providing postage.

“Being recognized was just an honor to feel like the work I’m doing matters. On the days that are hard and feel like no one’s really paying attention — especially in off-year elections — to know there’s a reason we’re doing this, and it does make an impact,” Longbottom said. We never want to influence a student one way or the other. We just want them to vote. Being able to provide that without any judgment or conflict is really important for us.”

Puget Sound President Isiaah Crawford was appointed to the ALL IN Presidents’ Council in 2024. ALL IN supports more than 1,000 campuses and 10 million students nationally to make nonpartisan civic engagement an ongoing part of campus life. Members of the 2026 Student Voting Honor Roll were nominated by campus leaders for their dedication and excellence in voter education, registration, and turnout in 2025.
