The Hatchet
Discovered in 1908 under a campus barn, our official hatchet has been stolen, returned, engraved, taken abroad, and buried. Returned in 2008, it’s on display at the Wheelock Student Center.
The Color Post
Representing a field of knowledge and covered with graduating class years, the color post is located in the center of Karlen Quad.
LogJam!
LogJam! is jam-packed with food, activities, music, fireworks, and tons of other things worth exclaiming about!
GET INVOLVED
Doing things is what life at Puget Sound is all about. There’s way too many campus activities, and student clubs and organizations to list here, but there’s at least one that’s just the kind of thing you’re looking for.
Explore the Pacific Northwest
We are located in the Pacific Northwest, one of the most exciting and beautiful parts of the country. Our campus is located in a vibrant historic neighborhood that’s right next to a vital urban center in the entrepreneurial business corridor that runs from Vancouver, British Columbia, to Portland, Oregon.
From Tacoma’s Point Defiance Park to the beaches of the Pacific coast and Mount Rainier, you’ll never run out of cool places to explore!
The weather here is milder than you might think, with an average high of 61°F and average low of 45°F. The rainy season is longer than average, but we only get about 39 inches of precipitation a year, which we swear isn’t bad! You’re going to want to dress in layers, and be sure to bring a good raincoat and shoes or boots. Nobody really uses umbrellas.
You’re not going to need a car, but you can bring one if you want. Just register it with Security Services each year and stick a parking decal on it. Parking is free and on a first-come, first-served basis.
For off-campus travel, public transit options include bus, train, light rail, and ferry. You can check out an ORCA pass from ASUPS up to five times a semester for free fares. And each Puget Sound residence hall has space for bike storage.
Getting here from Sea-Tac Airport: you can do a ride-share for around $90 round trip, a shared van for around $59 round trip, or sound transit on the express bus for around $3.75 each way.
