Thank you for your interest in connecting with international students on campus through the Campus Ambassador Program at the University of Puget Sound.

The selection process includes two aspects: a brief application and a virtual, one-on-one interview. Below is the 2024-25 application schedule:

  • Applications close: August 15
  • Interviews (rolling): August 7-20
  • Selection date (notified by email): August 21

 

 

Position Description

 

General Requirements:

  • Hold a current GPA of 2.0 or above
  • Plan to be enrolled at Puget Sound for the upcoming academic year

Successful applicants should demonstrate:

  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • An appreciation for and interest in cultural differences and serving as a bridge builder on campus
  • An interest in having fun and helping international students have fun!
  • Leadership skills to interact positively and encourages the inclusion and involvement of international students
  • The ability to work effectively as a team member with other ambassadors, international students, and OIP staff
  • The ability to make sound, independent judgments and decisions, solve problems, and improvise
  • Willingness to be a role model and uphold university policies and expectations
  • Other relevant qualities including but not limited to enthusiasm, good humor, and open mindedness

Campus Ambassador Responsibilities:

  • Establish contact with students at our fall welcome event
  • Be available as an active resource for international students
  • Collaborate and communicate with other campus ambassadors
  • Participate in required ambassador training/meetings (once per semester)
  • Attend and participate fully in at least 2 events each semester for the entire

Campus Ambassador Program (August-May)

  • Maintain regular, biweekly check-ins with one (informally) assigned students and report any need for support or resources to OIP
  • Assist in evaluation of the program to help improve international student resources, communications, and events for future programs
  • Optional and as needed: Assist with assigned Orientation Week activities and events (i.e. Airport Shuttles, Move-in Day Shuttles, International Orientation lunch, etc.)
