Reception for Modern Lovers & Sweet Dreams Vol. 2, International Artist in Residence: Luis Alonso Sánchez and Sala Espera Gallery

Modern Lovers explores love and contraband as ways of living along border sites, showing how limits shape movements, desires, risks, and losses in everyday life. Crossing the border, these artists trace ways in which people, objects, stories, and beliefs traverse liminal spaces not only physically, but also emotionally, conceptually, and sometimes even paranormally.

Chiang operated San Francisco’s first fine-dining Chinese restaurant, The Mandarin.
