In celebration of everything we love about our university community, we are spotlighting some of the unique ways individual donors, foundations, and organizations have made it possible for students to pursue a life-changing Puget Sound education.
Four student awards — the Lillis, Matelich, Neukom, and Posse scholarships — provide full tuition (and in some cases, also room and board) for all four years to talented students who otherwise may not have the opportunity to realize the full breadth of their academic and leadership goals.
What follows in the next pages are first-person accounts of three esteemed alumni and one stand-out senior who say their life and career trajectories have been forever changed by their financial awards.
Each exemplifies not only the criteria and rigors required by the scholarships they received, but also the humanity-centered ethos of a liberal arts education.
“These are exceptional programs and even more exceptional people who we have been honored to have as students at Puget Sound,” says Rebecca Harrison ’01, associate vice president for University Relations. “They have all changed our institution for the better,” she adds. “We are so lucky to call them Loggers.”
