In the Leadership for a Changing World Strategic Plan, the University of Puget Sound highlights the well-being and professional development of faculty and staff members as institutionally important. We seek to create and implement a learning, development, and enrichment program and to further establish Puget Sound as a great place to work. As such, we offer programs, workshops, and resources to support this strategically important initiative.

Why Learning & Development Matters

The University of Puget Sound has a rich history of supporting the career and professional development of its faculty and staff members. Colleagues frequently participate in webinars, attend conferences or professional meetings, participate in workshops, and more to enhance their knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Puget Sound's commitment to supporting colleagues in our dynamic environment is crucial, and is foundational to our ability to innovate, respond to challenges, inspire one another to do our best work, and to care for one another in our community.

Learning & Development Framework

Puget Sound faculty and staff members are multi-faceted, interesting, and dedicated to supporting the mission of the university while guided by our core values. In response, our learning & development framework is designed to provide opportunities, resources, and tools that support the holistic development of those who work here.

The Pillars of the Framework

With seven key components (pillars), the framework has been created to support faculty and staff across their entire time at Puget Sound, from their first day to their last. Read on for descriptions of the framework's pillars.

Career and Professional Development

Growth and development are important components of a professional journey at Puget Sound. In other cases, individual staff members may engage in role or person-specific training to advance their career and professional development.
