Below is a list of financial aid checklist items that result from filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Not all of these checklists apply to all students. Please review your Financial Aid Checklist details in your Admission Portal (i.e. Asset Information Issue 1) and review the instructions below. Asset Information Issue 1
Asset information is missing from your form. Select “Make a Correction” to update your information.
Citizenship Issue 1
The Department of Homeland Security did not confirm your status as a noncitizen in an immigration status that is eligible for the types of federal student aid for which you have applied. You must submit proof to Student Financial Services confirming your noncitizen immigration status. Please note: documentation of your status must be submitted in-person in Jones 019. This can be done when you arrive on campus prior to the start of the term.
Citizenship Issue 2
You didn’t indicate on your FAFSA form that you’re a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen. To receive federal student aid, you must be a U.S. citizen (or national) or an eligible noncitizen, such as a U.S. permanent resident, a resident of certain Pacific Islands, or as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. Select "Make a Correction" if you need to update your information.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s United States Citizen and Immigration Service has identified an existing case.

You changed either your citizenship status or the Alien Registration Number (A-Number) that was verified with the Department of Homeland Security. Therefore, you must submit proof of your citizenship status to Student Financial Services. Please note: documentation of your citizenship must be submitted in-person in Jones 019. This can be done when you arrive on campus prior to the start of the term.
Citizenship Issue 7
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has not yet confirmed your status as a noncitizen in an immigration status that is eligible for federal student aid. DHS will continue to check its records and we will notify you when we receive more information from them.
Citizenship Issue 8
The Social Security Administration (SSA) did not confirm that you are a U.S. citizen. Please provide Student Financial Services with documentation of your U.S. citizenship (such as your U.S. Passport, Certificate of Naturalization, or Birth Certificate). If the documents support your status as a U.S. citizen, Student Financial Services will make a copy of your documentation and can continue to process your federal student aid. If you are an eligible noncitizen, select "Make Corrections" to update your information. Please note: documentation of your citizenship must be submitted in-person in Jones 019. This can be done when you arrive on campus prior to start of the term.

You changed your citizenship status but this has not been verified with the Social Security Administration. Please provide Student Financial Services with documentation of your U.S. citizenship (such as your U.S. Passport, Certificate of Naturalization, or Birth Certificate). The Department of Homeland Security’s United States Citizen and Immigration Service hasn’t confirmed the validity of your Alien Registration Number (A-Number), which is needed to receive federal student aid. Select "Make Corrections" to review or update your information.

Your parent reported an unusually large number of family members. Your parent must log in to StudentAid.gov, select your FAFSA form from their Dashboard, and select "Make a Correction" to update their information.
Family Size Issue 4
You reported an unusually large number of family members. Select "Make Corrections" and update the information if it is inaccurate or confirm the number by reentering what you originally reported.
Family Size Issue 5
The marital status reported for the parent does not appear to agree with the updated family size reported. If one of those items is incorrect, you need to make a correction. Select “Make a Correction” to review or update your information.
Family Size Issue 6
You reported that you are married or remarried, and also reported a family size of less than two. Select “Make a Correction” to update your information.

Incomplete FAFSA Parent
You indicated that your parents are unwilling to provide their information on your FAFSA form. Therefore the only federal student aid you may be eligible to receive is a Direct Unsubsidized Loan. The financial aid office at your college or career school may contact you to complete your application. If you want to be considered for other types of federal student aid, you must log in to StudentAid.gov, select "Make Corrections," and add your parent to your application.

A financial aid administrator may request documentation of your status in order to complete their review of your FAFSA form.
Social Security Number Issue 1
The Social Security Administration (SSA) couldn’t confirm that the Social Security Number (SSN) you reported on your FAFSA is correct.
If you made a mistake on your form, do the following:
- Log in to StudentAid.gov and update your information in your Account Settings.
- Once SSA verifies your account status, update the information on your FAFSA by selecting "Make a Correction", save and then "Submit" the update.
- If you believe that the SSN you reported is correct, contact the SSA by calling 1.800.772.1213 or by visiting ssa.gov.
- Once the SSA resolves the issue, reach out to the Federal Student Aid Information Center (FSAIC) at 1.800.433.3243, and ask that your data be manually synched with the SSA. FSAIC will email you when the match is confirmed.
Social Security Number Issue 2
You reported that your Social Security number (SSN) is the same as someone else who contributed to your FAFSA form. Update your contributor information on your FAFSA form. If necessary, have your contributor log in to StudentAid.gov and update their SSN in their Account Settings. Once the information is updated, and the SSNs no longer match, have your contributor select "Make a Correction" to update their information on your application.
Social Security Number Issue 4
The date of birth you reported on your FAFSA doesn’t match the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) records for your Social Security Number (SSN).
If you made a mistake on your form, do the following:
- Log in to StudenAid.gov and update your information in your Account Settings.
- Once SSA verifies your account status, update the information on your FAFSA by selecting "Make a Correction."
- Once the information on your form has been updated, select "Submit".
- If you believe that the date of birth is correct, contact the SSA by calling 1.800.772.1213 or by visiting ssa.gov. Once the SSA has resolved the issue, contact the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1.800.433.3243 and request they manually synch their data with the SSA. You will be notified by email once the match is confirmed.
Social Security Number Issue 5
The name you reported on your FAFSA doesn’t match the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) records for your Social Security Number (SSN).
