Join us for this Jacobsen Series concert featuring Tracy Doyle, flute. The program, Pathways of Desire, will include works by Esmail, Still, and Murail. 

TRACY DOYLE is Director of the School of Music and Professor of Flute at the University of Puget Sound, where she provides academic and artistic leadership for a comprehensive music program grounded in the values of a liberal arts education. Her work integrates performance, teaching, and community engagement, with a sustained commitment to preparing students for meaningful, adaptable careers in music and the arts. As Professor of Flute, Dr. Doyle maintains an active and vital flute studio at the University of Puget Sound. Composed of students throughout the United States, her talented and dedicated students delight and inspire her daily.

An active performer and educator, she appears regularly as a soloist, orchestral musician, and chamber artist. Her wide-ranging performance career centered on collaboration. She is a founding member of the Japanese-American Apricity Trio, alongside clarinetist Chiho Sugo and percussionist James Doyle, performing throughout the United States and Japan. Her work with percussionist James Doyle also extends to the Kane-Doyle Duo, with concerts and residencies in the United States, Australia, and Japan. In the Pacific Northwest, she has performed with ensembles including Symphony Tacoma, Northwest Sinfonietta, Vashon Opera, and at the Walla Walla Chamber Music Festival.

Doyle earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in flute performance from Louisiana State University and her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in music education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Beyond her professional work, she finds creative renewal through travel, painting, and gardening, drawing continual inspiration from the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.  

About the Series

The Jacobsen Series was established in 1984 in honor of Leonard Jacobsen, former chair and professor of Puget Sound’s piano department. Ticket sales support the Jacobsen Series Scholarship Fund, annual music scholarships awarded to outstanding student performers and scholars.
