Musical Revolutions will explore moments throughout music history where composers challenged conventions, blended influences, and reshaped musical culture. The program will trace artistic disruption and innovation across eras, highlighting works that pushed boundaries and changed the musical landscape.  
 

The program for Musical Revolutions will feature works spanning the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Impressionism, Jazz, and postmodern eras:

• Zelenka – Trio Sonata No. 6
• Ethel Smyth – Piano Trio in D Minor
• Debussy – Sonata for Flute, Viola, and Harp (selected movements/excerpts)
• Charles Mingus – Fables of Faubus
• Michael Daugherty – Dead Elvis 

Faculty members performing in the program will include Dawn Padula, mezzo-soprano; Brittany Harrington, bassoon; Anna Jensen and Rob Hutchinson, bass; Jinshil Yi and David Joyner, piano; the Puget Sound Piano Trio; Tracy Doyle, flute; Timothy Christie, viola; Stuart Hambley, David Curtiss, and David Krosschell, trombone; Jeffery Lund, drums; Jeff Chang, saxophone; Maria Sampen, violin; Jennifer Nelson, clarinet; Judson Scott, trumpet; Rachel Hall, conductor; and James DeJoie, percussion.

About the Series

The Jacobsen Series was established in 1984 in honor of Leonard Jacobsen, former chair and professor of Puget Sound’s piano department. Ticket sales support the Jacobsen Series Scholarship Fund, annual music scholarships awarded to outstanding student performers and scholars.
