Homerathon: An All-Day Reading of The Odyssey
Greek, Latin, & Ancient Mediterranean Studies (GLAM) invites you to the University of Puget Sound's first-ever Homerathon, an all-day, out-loud reading of The Odyssey by Homer in English (and even a little bit in ancient Greek!). This is a unique chance to hear the epic poem in a way similar to how ancient Greeks would have experienced it in the 8th century BCE.
The Homerathon will take place on Thursday, October 29th, starting at 7:00 AM on the Wheelock Plaza, aka "The Slab." (If there is inclement weather, we'll be in the Wheelock Diversions Lounge.)
All campus members are welcome to come listen, whether for five minutes or all twelve hours. If you would like to participate in the reading, you are encouraged to sign up to read via this spreadsheet.
GLAM will serve donuts, hot chocolate, coffee, and tea in the morning hours, and (non-campus) pizza and soda in the evening. We will also be offering an exclusive sticker to reading participants and audience members to celebrate the event.
Puget Sound is committed to being accessible to all people. If you have questions about event accessibility, please contact 253.879.3931 or accessibility@pugetsound.edu, or visit pugetsound.edu/accessibility.
