An Evening with Benjamin Herold
African American Studies, the School of Education, and the Race & Pedagogy Institute are co-sponsoring "An Evening with Education Journalist Benjamin Herold" on Wed. March 27, 6:00–7:30 p.m. in the Wheelock Student Center, Rasmussen Rotunda.
This presentation centers on Herold's book, Disillusioned: Five Families and the Unraveling of American's Suburbs. Disillusioned tells the story of five families living in suburbs outside of Chicago, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Dallas. Through examination of our history of racial segregation, white flight, and capital disinvestment, and through interviews with these families, Herold documents our current suburban decline and the way suburban schools are failing students.
This event is free and open to the public.
