"Wait… humanists in neuroscience labs? Won’t they stifle innovation by asking too many questions? Wouldn’t the scientists just use them for ethics-washing? Prof. Tim Brown argues against a “compliance” model of embedding humanists in the sciences, where humanists police scientists into behaving responsibly. Instead, he proposes an “investigative” model, where open questions in both the sciences and humanities require deep, collaborative research to answer. Prof. Brown will draw from first-hand experiences as a philosopher embedded within teams of neuroscientists."
