The Art of a Career
A Special Event with Professional Musicians Mason Hargrove, Dean Schmidt, and James Doyle
Made possible with support from the Matthew Norton Clapp Visiting Artists Endowment
The Department of Theatre Arts and School of Music invite you to join the instrumental guest artists in the spring musical Fun Home band for a panel discussion, Q & A, and open rehearsal. Guests Mason Hargrove (guitarist), Dean Schmidt (bassist), and James Doyle (percussionist) will talk about their professional career journeys and offer insights about making a life as an artist. The panel discussion, "The Art of a Career," is at 5 p.m. with an open rehearsal following at 6 p.m. with the full band.
Fun Home is the spring musical being presented and co-produced by the Department of Theatre Arts and the School of Music featuring two casts.
It is a refreshingly honest, emotional, and revolutionary Tony Award-winning musical based on Alison Bechdel’s groundbreaking graphic memoir of the same name. The story follows Alison at three ages as she interrogates the past, navigates her own queerness, finds her creative voice, and re-sees her parents through adult eyes. This beautifully constructed story and score continue to resonate with audiences.
