Piano Instructor | Collaborative Pianist
Jieun Yun is an active pianist, organist, and music educator with extensive experience as a soloist, collaborative pianist, church musician, and teacher. She has performed and collaborated with musicians and ensembles throughout the Pacific Northwest and has taught students from a wide range of ages and musical backgrounds. Her musical interests include piano and organ performance, collaborative music-making, church music, contemporary worship music, and music education.
Jieun Yun currently serves as an affiliate collaborative pianist in the School of Music and a piano instructor in the Community Music department. In addition to her work at the University of Puget Sound, she maintains a private piano studio, and is a collaborative pianist with the Bremerton Symphony Chorale and serves as Organist and Choir Director at Messiah Lutheran Church in Seattle. Previously, she served for eight years at Tacoma First Baptist Church, where she was active in worship leadership and music ministry. As a worship bandleader and keyboardist, she has extensive experience performing with synthesizers and playing from chord charts, and bringing versatility and practical musicianship to a wide range of musical settings.
She received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Organ Performance and a Master of Music degree in Church Music and Organ Performance from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisiana. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Church Music and Piano Performance from Korea Baptist Theological University and Seminary in Daejeon, South Korea.
A dedicated educator, Jieun is passionate about helping students develop strong musical foundations, confident technique, and a genuine love of music. Her teaching style is tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals, balancing technical development with musical expression and creativity. She especially enjoys working with young students and helping them build confidence and a lifelong appreciation for music.
