Alexander R. Adams is a classically trained bass-baritone singer and voice teacher, born and raised in the Seattle area. He earned his Master of Music degree from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Puget Sound, where he studied with Dr. Dawn Padula.

Alexander Adams is an active performer and teacher. His opera roles include King Balthazar in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Truffaldino in Ariadne auf Naxos, Publio in La clemenza di Tito, Minister in Iphigénie en Tauride, Mr. Plunkett/Judge in The English Cat, and Sprecher/Armored Man in Die Zauberflöte, and Sergeant of the Police in Pirates of Penzance. In 2022 Alexander reprised the role of Churchman in the San Jose premiere of a new atonal opera, OURLAND: A Dystopian State by director/librettist Daniel Helfgot and composer Paul Davies, which he had previously workshopped at the Aquilon Music Festival in McMinnville, Oregon.

In addition to opera performance, Alexander has been featured as a soloist with choirs, such as in Bach Cantata BWV 4 "Christ lag in Todesbanden" with USC's student-run Luce Chorus, Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music with the USC Chamber Choir, and the Faurè Requiem with the Adelphian Concert Choir. Alexander performed live for millions of internet streamers at the E3 2016 God of War Reveal as part of the chorus in a live orchestra rendition of music from the game. Alexander has sung with several semi-professional and student choirs, most notably USC Thornton's Chamber Singers directed by Jo-Michael Scheibe, and the University of Puget Sound Adelphian Concert Choir directed by Steven Zopfi. Alexander Adams has also held several staff singer and section leader positions in semi-pro choirs and church choirs.

In 2018, Alexander started a private voice studio where he continues to teach lessons to students of a variety of ages and skill levels in addition to his teaching position at the University of Puget Sound Community Music Department. His teaching style is informed by current vocal science as well as established classical pedagogy practices.

Alexander is also a composer. His most recent project is a collection of art songs based on poems by Edgar Allan Poe, including “A Dream Within a Dream”, “Annabel Lee”, and “The Conqueror Worm”. Recordings of the songs, performed by tenor John Riesen, have been released on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
