Members of William Kupinse’s Literature and Environment (ENGL 374) and Advanced Poetry Writing: Poetry and Environmental Justice (ENGL 328) classes participated in a 3 1/2 hour field trip to the Port of Tacoma. Joined by local filmmaker and environmental activist John Carlton, they visited and/or viewed a number of sites at the Port, including: Public shoreline near the Hylebos Waterway, TARGA Sound Terminal, US Oil & Refining Co, WestRock Company’s Tacoma Mill, and The Northwest Detention Center.
