Technology Services Leadership Transition

Dear Campus Community,

I am writing to share an important leadership transition within Technology Services. Effective today, Francisco Chavez is no longer serving as the university’s Chief Information Officer and Associate Vice President for Technology Services. We appreciate Francisco’s contributions to Puget Sound and wish him well.

I am pleased to announce that Ann Riley will begin serving tomorrow as interim Associate Vice President for Technology Services while we prepare for the longer-term leadership search. Ann is a consultant with Moran Technology Consulting and brings extensive experience in higher education technology leadership, strategic planning, organizational transformation, and the development of technology services that support institutional priorities. She will spend her first weeks listening, learning, and becoming familiar with our community, technology environment, and institutional priorities.

In the immediate term, Ann will work closely with the Technology Services team and university leadership to ensure continuity of our technology operations and services, support teaching and learning, and sustain progress on critical initiatives already underway. I will also work closely with Ann and the team throughout the transition.

I also want to recognize the dedication and expertise of our Technology Services colleagues. Technology is an essential part of how we teach, learn, work, communicate, and serve our students. The professionalism and commitment of this team are deeply valued, and I am confident in their ability to continue providing strong support to our campus throughout this transition.

We will provide additional information as appropriate as we move forward with the longer-term leadership planning for Technology Services and search for our next AVP/CIO. In the meantime, our focus remains clear: supporting our students, faculty, and staff and ensuring that technology continues to enable the university's academic and operational mission.
