Greetings Loggers,
As we gear up for the new academic year, Security Services wants to share a few quick updates on campus logistics, parking, and daily safety tips to help your routine run smoothly.
Free Campus Parking Permits
- 2026-27 Academic Year Parking Decals are now available.
- Register your vehicle on MyPugetSound (under Campus Resources > Vehicle Registration).
- Security Services will email you with pickup instructions. Campus parking is completely free.
Student EV Charging Pilot Program
- Open to on-campus student residents on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign up via the Student EV Charge Pilot Sign-Up Form.
- Key Details: Uses a J1772 connector (bring an NACS adapter if needed). Max limit is 10 hours of active charging per session to share access.
- Not living on campus? Help shape future EV infrastructure by filling out our EV Needs Assessment Survey.
Vehicle & Bike Safety
- Clean Car Campaign: Always remove or hide valuables (laptops, bags, electronics) before leaving your car. Lock all doors/windows and use a steering wheel lock or hidden GPS tracker for extra security.
- Bike Locks: Use a sturdy U-bolt lock around the bike frame, remove pricey accessories, and utilize residence hall indoor bike storage.
Pedestrian Safety Around Campus
- Use crosswalks and press the flashing sensors along N. Union, 11th Street, and Alder.
- Make eye contact with drivers before stepping out, and keep your head up by pausing cell phone use and taking out earbuds while crossing streets.
If you have any questions, thoughts, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to talk to our Campus Safety Officers on campus or email us at security@pugetsound.edu.
Have a fantastic year ahead. Go Loggers!
Warmly,
David Ferber, Ph.D. | Director of Security Services
