Dear Loggers,

Puget Sound is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for you to live, work, study, and conduct research. As no campus is free from crime, every October 1 we share our Annual Campus Security and Fire Safety Report to assure campus community members have relevant information about safety on campus. This report is attached to the email and available on the university's website, consistent with the requirements of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).

In compliance with the Clery Act, this report covers:

  • Safety and security resources;
  • Policies and procedures, including how to report crimes and sexual misconduct; the University of Puget Sound’s response to sexual misconduct; victim support services; training and outreach;
  • How to access the university's daily crime log;
  • Emergency response and evacuation procedures; and
  • Emergency notifications and crime alerts.

Additionally, this report contains three years’ worth of crime statistics gathered from various sources, including University of Puget Sound Security Services, local law enforcement agencies, and campus officials with significant responsibility for student and campus activities (known as Campus Security Authorities). These crime statistics are reported to the U.S. Department of Education.

You can also find a copy of this year's report at pugetsound.edu/annual-security-report-clery. If you would like a paper copy of this year's report, don't hesitate to contact Security Services.

Please feel free to contact me if you want to discuss this report or any safety concerns. Security Services staff are also available to come meet with campus departments and groups to discuss safety on campus.

As a reminder, if you notice suspicious behavior on campus or have safety concerns, please report them immediately to Security Services so our dispatchers have accurate, real-time details to guide our response. You can contact Security Services at 253.879.3311 or dial 911 if you notice anything out of the ordinary. Security Services is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Sincerely,

David Ferber, Ph.D. | Director of Security Services
