Dear Puget Sound Students, Faculty, and Staff,

We are excited to share that, over the next two months, we will be transitioning the scheduling and facility management of Kilworth Memorial Chapel from the University Chaplaincy to Dining and Event Services (DES). This transition is part of the Chaplaincy's ongoing efforts to improve resources and support for both campus members and community guests, by streamlining day-to-day scheduling and coordination. We hope that DES's expanded capacities will increase revenue by supporting conferences, rentals, weddings, and other external users from KMC. The departments have committed to work together to discuss any significant physical or philosophical changes to the Chapel.

We are in the process of communicating these changes directly with key stakeholders and frequent users of the Chapel, we're sharing this information with the entire campus community to ensure everyone is aware of the new scheduling processes for the Chapel, which will be effective starting April 1, 2024. At that point, all scheduling for Kilworth Chapel (other than curricular schedules added by the Registrar) will need to be submitted through 25Live via your Puget Sound dashboard, following consistent practice for most other campus venues. If you need assistance learning to use 25Live, please contact reservations@pugetsound.edu for further information.

Additionally, we will be revising access controls with security to ensure safe use of the Chapel for the campus community. Campus cardholders will have access from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday–Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends, as well as indicated times for events scheduled in 25-Live. The campus community will be able to access the Chapel using the side doors. Should you need assistance with access, please contact Security Services.

The basic timeline for the transition:

  • April 1 - all reservations must be scheduled through 25Live
  • April 1 - May 10 - Chaplaincy and DES co-manage Kilworth Chapel
  • May 11 - DES assumes primary scheduling and facility management for Kilworth Chapel

We recognize that this is a significant change for the various clubs, departments, individuals, and programs that have historically worked directly with the Chaplaincy to reserve and use Kilworth Memorial Chapel. Please reach out to either of us if you would like to talk through how this impacts your area so that we can connect and help make this transition go as smoothly as possible for all involved.

Respectfully,

Aaron Shook, Executive Director DES

Rev. Dave Wright, University Chaplain
