Dear faculty and staff colleagues,

We recently announced that our new Associate Vice President for Human Resources and Chief People Officer, Nancy Nieraeth, will join Puget Sound on or about Dec. 6, and today I am pleased to introduce Ian Dowling as our new Director of Compensation and Benefits who joined us last week. In this role Ian is responsible for administering a comprehensive staff compensation program and benefits program for faculty and staff, and overseeing the payroll function. He will have a strong role in leading a comprehensive review of all compensation and benefits programs (referred to as a total rewards review), which we anticipate will launch next fall.

Ian earned bachelor’s degrees in history and in labor studies and employment relations and a master’s degree in human resources and employee relations from Penn State University. While relatively new to higher education, Ian brings eight years of experience within the human resources profession. He looks forward to working with our Human Resources team and broader campus community to further support Puget Sound’s mission and strategic goals and ongoing efforts to attract and retain talented faculty and staff.

Please join me in welcoming Ian to University of Puget Sound!

Sincerely,

Erin Ruff, SHRM-CP | Interim Associate Vice President for Human Resources
