Earlier today, we shared the following information with students about applying for funding as part of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) emergency grant assistance, also referred to as the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II). We know that all of us are concerned about contributing to our student's success and well-being. We wanted you to be aware that we are offering funding requests to all Puget Sound students who require financial support due to the difficult circumstances brought forth by the coronavirus.

Dear Puget Sound Student,

We are happy to announce that the university has received funding as part of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) as authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA) to support emergency costs that have emerged as a result of the coronavirus. The online request form can be found at pugetsound.edu/caresactfunds, or you can access the request form directly by clicking on this link.

In accordance with federal guidance, the HEERF II funds are available to students who need financial support due to the coronavirus's difficult circumstances. This would include support for food, housing, tuition, course materials, technology, travel, and other expenses you may have incurred due to COVID-19. If you are dealing with a financial hardship or have incurred unexpected expenses due to the pandemic, we encourage you to apply for this funding. The federal guidance associated with HEERF II funding requires that institutions prioritize exceptional needs in awarding grants to students. If you believe that you have a need, please take some time to complete the request form. Recipients do not have to demonstrate financial need through traditional measures such as the FAFSA but will need to provide some clear reasoning for this request. We will process these requests based on the schedule below:

Please be clear and concise in describing the nature of your expenses and make sure that the amount you are requesting is accurate. Award amount decisions will be based on the type of expense, the description and reasonableness of the request, and available funding.
