Basic and Voluntary Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance

For faculty members and staff members in regular positions scheduled to work at least half-time, 1,040 hours per year, the university provides $25,000 in basic life insurance and $25,000 in basic accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance on the date you become eligible for the flexible benefits plan.

In addition to the basic coverage provided by the university, faculty members and staff members in regular positions scheduled to work at least half-time, 1,040 hours per year, are eligible to purchase voluntary life and AD&D coverage for themselves, spouse/partner and dependent children.  Premiums are collected via payroll deduction. For more information, please refer to the link below.

 

Long-Term Disability Insurance

Faculty members and staff members in regular positions scheduled to work at least three-quarter-time, 1,560 hours per year, begin participation in the long-term disability (LTD) insurance program after 12 month of continuous employment or immediately with documentation of prior coverage under a comparable group LTD plan within three months before employment with Puget Sound.

The university pays the full premium for your LTD insurance. In the event of long-term total or partial disability, the plan pays you a monthly income benefits equal to 60 percent of your base monthly salary up to a maximum monthly benefit of $15,000. Benefits commence on the first of the month following 90 consecutive days of disability. For more information, please refer to the link below.
