Dear Members of the Campus Community,

We have received 100 doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Still, We will not be able to administer them at this time due to a decision by federal and state officials to pause distribution out of an abundance of caution to evaluate the vaccine’s safety further. However, we can safely store the vaccine until June 23 and will make it available before that time if we are authorized to do so.

Meanwhile, we have ordered a supply of the Moderna vaccine. We expect to be able to hold a vaccination event in Marshall Hall on Thursday, April 22, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Information about signing up to receive this vaccine—which requires two shots, four weeks apart—will be shared with the campus community via email on Monday, April 19 after we learn how many vaccines we will receive.

We will do our best to vaccinate as many people as possible before the end of the semester. First, however, please take advantage of the opportunity to secure appointments at area pharmacies, clinics, and mass vaccination events in the local area. The Washington state vaccine locator tool can be found at https://vaccinelocator.doh.wa.gov/. Vaccine events are also available on the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department website. Check these sites frequently as appointments are added often.

We appreciate your understanding and continued commitment to follow public health guidelines and keep our campus community healthy.

Sincerely,

Kelly K. Brown, Ph.D. | Director.
Counseling, Health, and Wellness Services.
